• Here's Jonny - Plus One
Posted by Heletia on 22 Apr 2007

JONNY Pasvolsky has it all figured out. The former McLeod's Daughters star and his wife, Caro, are 3 months' pregnant.

"We're going to put the baby into acting classes and make it a child star so we don't have to work," he laughs. "We're going to move to Mexico and leave the kid in LA to make the money."

He's joking ... we're pretty sure. The happy couple shifted to Los Angeles in January so Jonny could try his luck in Hollywood.

"We were just stoked. It's such a miracle," he says of the pregnancy. "He's due on October 21. We don't know if it's a boy or a girl. We just keep saying 'he' we really don't care what it is, though."

Thankfully, Caro's had only one morning of morning sickness, although taking up residence in the U.S. does make things a little difficult, being away from their family support network.

"Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have already offered to babysit," Jonny laughs.

On the acting front, Jonny's just been granted his work visa, which will make auditioning for roles a lot easier. He has tried out for a multitude of movie and TV roles and while there are a few nibbles, "nothing's concrete yet".

"There are promises, but they are never reality until you're sitting in a cinema looking at them," he chuckles.

Mind you, he won't be getting any Spanish roles if one audition was anything to go by.

"I got the script and there was a paragraph I had to speak in Spanish ... I think it was pretty clear that I didn't when it ended up sounding Russian," he laughs.

Wonder if his Russian accent will sound Spanish?

• Jonny's New Movie : 30 October
Posted by Heletia on 07 Nov 2006
On 30 October 2006 filming commenced in Adelaide for the $6-million Disney feature Hey, Hey, It’s Esther Blueburger.

Jonny will play English teacher Mr Hooper alongside Oscar nominees Toni Collette and Keisha Castle-Hughesand teenager Danielle Catanzariti, who will play the title character.

Producer Miriam Stein said casting Pasvolsky didn’t come as a complete surprise, with the actor having participated in script readings at her home a couple of years ago. He was invited to audition for the role of Mr Hooper earlier this year.

He said that while he was pleased to be involved in a “Jewish” film, he believes the story of Esther Blueberger, a girl coming to terms with her identity ahead of her impending bat mitzvah, has universal themes.

“I just think it’s a really beautiful story about a girl that age ... every girl who’s 13 or 14 will just love it and relate to it,” he said.

• Jonny Takes a Break from McLeods : May 2006
Posted by Heletia on 07 Jul 2006
Jonny has taken a break from filming McLeod's Daughters to star in 'Macbeth'. His look in Macbeth is in complete contrast to his hunky Rob Shelton at Drover's - he's got a shaved head and is very pale. "When I'd come back onto set at McLeod's they had to give me a fake tan, and I wore a hat a lot to cover up my shaved head." said Jonny. "It's very gangland," he says. Not surprising given it was directed by Geoffrey Wright, who did Romper Stomper. In fact for a while, Jonny was shooting the film while he was still on-set at McLeod's - Macbeth was shot at night in Melbourne."I'd film McLeod's all day, get on a plane, fly to Melbourne," he sighs.

He's organising a trip to the Toronto Film Festival - for the screening of Australian film Macbeth, in which he stars with Sam Worthington and Gary Sweet. Jonny describes it as dark and intense.

• Jonny Has Sights Set on Big Screen : June 2006

Next up for Jonny is a film he's making with his brother Steve in October. "It's been in the pipeline for years," he says. "But it's very hush-hush." Jonny and Steve have been working together for years, writing scripts. "It's really not a very big industry," he says of the acting world, "there's not that much work out there, you've got to create it." said Jonny".
